DAZL Leeds Healthy Holidays
DAZL Leeds Healthy Holidays 2022 is supported by the Leeds Community Foundation and the departments of Education England. The film highlights the programme and the experiences and impacts this vital work has on families across Leeds
Throughout the year which included Easter, Summer and Christmas we deliver 4 days each week of the holiday accumulating to 7 weeks of creative camps at the DAZL HQ Studio in Middleton. We engaged 179 young people. Food provision we offered daily hot meals and breakfast and lunch and also snacks. We did Change 4 Life and food
activities with the young people making most of the cooking with DAZL resources on the DAZL website http://dazl.org.uk/healthylifestyle/ We delivered dance and crafts indoors and also outdoor activities for young people where they took part in multisports. Having multiple offers ensure we were able to have as wide a reach as possible and catered for all the young people we engaged. We also used all the resources created at Easter on
how to cook on a shoestring using the ZEST Leeds cooking book for families as a simple resource for making their shopping stretch further. For all our activities we provided a hot breakfast and cold option and a hot lunch each day along with snacks for 4 weeks and 4 days per week. We did receive some support from FareShare but then used supermarkets for supplementary. We also offered healthy eating sessions and any leftover food bagged up for children to take home at the end of each week.
