DAZL Junior Dance Company @ Crossing Borders 2017

DAZL General DAZL News Leave a Comment

DAZL Junior Dance Company travelled to Horizon College in Barnsley on Sunday 29th January to not just perform their new work Implode! but to perform as a group for the first time since beginning back in September 2016. In just 5 short months the young people who the majority of them had never done contemporary dance before worked intensively with Natasha Smith, a recent graduate from Northern School of Contemporary Dance to create a piece of work which was emotional, intense and opened the audiences eyes to the world of mental health in young people. Throughout the day the group took part in a variety of workshops within the college including a contemporary dance workshop, a street dance workshop and a social media experience workshop which allowed the young people to interact with other youth groups attending the platform. After the Finale workshop it was time to get ready for the show, costumes on hair up, the girls were ready to put on a great show. Being one of the youngest youth companies there and opening the show, they showed huge amounts of bravery, professionalism and absolutely blew the audience away with their powerful performance. We are now awaiting a decision from the FRESH 2017 panel and will find out at the end of February if they were chosen to perform at West Yorkshire Playhouse on Saturday 1st April.   https://www.facebook.com/danceactionzoneleeds/
