HOW DO WE GET INVOLVED?

Consideration for 2022/23 programme entry will take place via an Open Audition process on either of the following dates: Monday 12th or Thursday 15th September 2022 More information on how to secure a place for your child to audition can be found on page 10 of the DAZL Excel Broacher!

DAZL EXCEL is a development of DAZL's International championship-winning competitive dance team, the DAZL Diamonds, which was originally formed by Director Ian Rodley in September 2004. The squads continue to grow & improve each season under the direction of DAZL Dance Development Officer Mason Jubb and team with over 100+ dancers. Some of the team's credits include performing as part of Tiësto Music Video, Britains Got Talent, Got to Dance, Basil Brush Show, Paul O'Grady Show and more recently BBC Dance Passions.

WHAT IS DAZL EXCEL?

DAZL EXCEL is a talent retention programme led by Dance & Health Charity, Dance Action Zone Leeds. Offering gifted dancers (aged 7 -19) a weekly training and performance programme, with a strong emphasis on igniting a passion for dance in young people and encouraging various progression routes into further dance training/ experiences.

WHO IS IT FOR?

As an organisation running on an ethos of being inclusive for all, the DAZL EXCEL programme is the pinnacle of our communitydevelopment approach work. However, this particular programme is mainly suited to those dancers that do have some previous dance experience or those who are naturally gifted and talented and seeking a new opportunity to progress their potential!

WHAT DOES IT INCLUDE?

  • Weekly classes in a variety of styles Qualifications (IDTA exams/ Dance Leaders Level 1 & 2)
  • At least 4 performance opportunities per year
  • At least 2 half-term dance intensives per year
  • At least 3 competitions per year, 1 in each dance genre
  • At least 4 external industry professional workshops per year
  • Annual dance for film project Commercial events including Flashmobs
  • Progress feedback tutorials Annual theatre trip
  • Awards & celebrations evening Fundraising event

Where does it happen?

All of our sessions are located at our base:

DAZL HQ, Middleton Community Centre, Acre Rd, Leeds, LS10 4LF.

WEEKLY TIMETABLE

  • Hip-Hop & Commercial Team: Mondays, U10 4.30 - 6 pm, U14 6 -7.30pm, U19 7.30-9pm
  • Cheer-dance Team: Wednesdays, U10 & U14 4.30 - 6.30 pm
  • Contemporary/ Lyrical Team: Thursdays (Compulsory), U10 4.30 - 6 pm, U14 6 -7.30pm, U19 7.30-9pm  

 

How can I support the team?

Support The DAZL Excel Programme 

We are always looking for help towards costs of the team's costumes, and transport etc.  For the young people, we work with even £5 to cover the cost of a couple of classes really can make a huge difference to their lives.

If you can help then all donations are gratefully received and we would be very happy to include you on our supporter’s page and invite you as a guest to our performances by way of a thank you.  We are happy to consider other ways for people to contribute to the program.  We are registered at BigGive.org – you can click on the donate button below.
