DAZL Empire Freestyle & Community Competition Teams
The DAZL Empire Freestyle & Community Competition Teams are for children and young people who wish to take dance a little more seriously and take part in competitions and examinations.
Examinations
These competition teams will compete at the IDTA International Dance Teachers Association dance (IDTA) competitions and will also take part in examinations as a requirement to compete.
Competitions
The community competition teams have a commitment of 2-4 competitions each year this depends on qualifying from their regional competition for a national spot. (E.g. Street qualifiers (October) – Street nationals. Freestyle & Rock n Roll Qualifiers (June) and then Nationals (November))
The groups will also take part in Urban Cheer UK competitions a minimum of 1 per year these are generally 1-day events with no qualifications to other competitions. Each DAZL Empire group will take part in compulsory community fundraising to support the running of the competition teams.
Some DAZL Empire groups will do some fun competitions or the Freestyle may do The Association of Dance & Freestyle Professionals – ADFP competitions but this is down to each group and the level of commitment or what is agreed upon by that group. We are all one community competition team but each group or area may have different needs and wants and we are happy to help meet them. The minimum requirement is the IDTA Qualifiers / Nationals in Street dance and Freestyle etc.. along with one Urban Cheer dance competition per year.
Where are the groups based?
The Community competition teams are based in Middleton, Belle Isle, Bramley, Tingley, Wortley and Batley. The offers in styles for the DAZL Empire community competition teams are Cheerdance, Urban Cheer Competitions, Streetdance, Freestyle and Acro.
The Empire Dance & Acrobatics partnership!
The DAZL Empire Freestyle School are all in partnership with Empire Dance & Acrobatics along with all our Acro and IDTA Examinations and competitions.
Who is it for?
We offer competitions for 5-11yrs, 12-15 years, 16yrs+ and then a Parent/ Adult Team and an Inclusive Dance offer for those young people or young adults with a physical or learning disability.
