Phoenix Dance Theatre is delighted to announce the Choreographers and Composers Lab 2015; a two week intensive in our state of the art dance centre in Leeds. The Lab is designed for professional choreographers and composers at an early stage of their career, to focus on the creative process of research and experimentation with the emphasis on composition in music and dance. We are looking for Choreographers, Composers, Dancers and Musicians to take part! Also just to give you some advance warning – our regional CPD project Dance Transports – to support dance artists, teachers and practitioners across Yorkshire will be launched next week. There will be four regional 2-day CPD events delivered by Candoco Dance Company, 2Faced Dance Company, Stopgap Dance Company and Dance United Yorkshire. The first of these workshops will take place in Hull at Hull College on 29th and 30th November and will be led by Candoco. Booking will be through the Yorkshire Dance website or via our box office. NORTHERN SCHOOL OF CONTEMPORARY DANCE NETWORK COORDINATOR (FREELANCE) NORTHERN CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLES (CYP) DANCE NETWORK Salary: £26,400 inclusive of VAT (18 month contract) (Year 1 – 2 days per week over 48 weeks / Year 2 – 1.5 days per week over 24 weeks) The Northern School of Contemporary Dance, based in Leeds, is one of the UK’s leading centres for professional contemporary dance training and is seeking to fill the post of Network Coordinator (Freelance), for the Northern Children and Young Peoples (CYP) Dance Network. The Network Co-ordinator post is funded by Arts Council England and will follow through on key recommendations that were highlighted in the published report ‘A New Canvas for Dance’. The Post Holder will deliver the first 18 months of strategic development activity to develop a network for the Northern Area CYP dance ecology. Key purpose of Network Coordinator Role will be: 1. INFRASTRUCTURE: Set up the network’s infrastructure, including consolidating SAG working methods, governance role, reporting structures and evaluation plans. 2. COMMUNICATIONS: Develop a communication and marketing strategy, promote the network brand (including the value of a networked approach). 3. MEMBERSHIP: Build the network’s membership. Set up an administrative hub and membership database. 4. NETWORK MEETINGS: Hold regional (sub-regional and individual) meetings/events with membership and other CYP stakeholders, to explore, identify and define key priorities to strengthen the CYP sector (building on a New Canvas for Dance recommendations). 5. NEWS: Devising and managing effective CYP dance/Network ‘news’ and opportunity mechanisms. Integrating with consortium members’ current modes, and tools such as social media, twitter. 6. EVALUATE & FUNDRAISE: Completing evaluation of the Network’s development phase and research options for and apply for future funding to ensure sustainability of the Network. Flexible working hours, including some evenings and weekends may be required to complete the main duties and responsibilities of this role. #DazlTakesOverDay On Sunday 26th October 2014 DAZL had the privileged spending the day working with the Northern Ballet’s – Center For Advance Training Programme.The talented ballet dancers had a dance of high energy cheerdance and hip-hop which was topped off with a perform to family and friends at the end of the day.   The CAT programme is a Professional Dance Scheme for young people aged between 10 – 17 years old and provides intensive, non residential training to students who show exceptional potential in classical ballet. The dancer were truly fantastic, it was wonderful to see how much classical ballet lends itself to cheerdance which was really exciting for us at DAZL to see how we could offer ballet part of the International Championship Winning Cheerdance Academy The DAZL Diamonds & DAZL Goldstars Well done guys and we are really looking forward to northern ballet to come and deliver a take over day with our competitive cheerdance teams #NorthernBalletTakesOver

Yorkshire Dance provides activities for young people aged 11-19 years from the areas of Leeds LS9, LS14 and LS15.  Our Yorkshire Dance Youth company provision has recently receive funding to develop and continue for a further 3 years and so we are really keen to connect with more young people and the local communities that we are working. We believe the your team and services may be key to this development. Yorkshire Dance presents Janine Fletcher Trace Elements Yorkshire Dance, Leeds Friday 17 October, 7.30pm Box Office 0113 243 8765 All tickets £5.00 A woman struggles; trying to be honest without telling the whole truth. She is going round in circles, trying to figure it out, leave it behind, but old habits die hard. Trace Elements fuses repetitious movement of the everyday with taut stylisation, creating a silent plea for the past not to be repeated. This performance is a 30-minute section of Janine Fletcher‘s new work.
