The DAZL Youth Company: Training & Performance Programme offers a programmes which consists of COMMERCIAL / BALLET/ ACRO / CHEER DANCE / CONTEMPORARY
HOW DO WE GET INVOLVED?
Consideration for the programme entry will take place via an Open Audition process annually.

DAZL Youth Company is a development of our previous successful programme DAZL EXCEL with various pathways into vocational training and professional work. The companies continue to grow artistically year on year, improvement under the direction of DAZL Dance Development Officer Kaci Emmonds & DAZL Health & Wellbeing Officer Stephanie Dobson. The programme enrols 32 students annually but has engages 100+ which credits include performing as part of Tiësto Music Video, Britain’s Got Talent, Got to Dance, Basil Brush Show, Paul O’Grady Show and more recently BBC Dance Passions.

WHAT IS DAZL YOUTH COMPANY?
DAZL YOUTH COMOPANY is a talent retention programme led by Dance & Health Charity, Dance Action Zone Leeds. Offering gifted dancers (aged 7 -19) a weekly training and performance programme, with a strong emphasis on igniting a passion for dance in young people and encouraging various progression routes into further dance training/ experiences.
WHO IS IT FOR?
As an organisation running on an ethos of being inclusive for all, the DAZL YOUTH COMPANY programme is the pinnacle of our community development approach work. However, this particular programme is mainly suited to those dancers that do have some previous dance experience or those who are naturally gifted and talented and seeking a new opportunity to progress their potential!
WHAT DOES IT INCLUDE?
Weekly classes in a variety of styles Qualifications IDTA exams/ Dance Leaders Level 1 & 2)
At least 6 performance opportunities per year
At least 2 half-term dance intensives per year
At least 3 competitions per year, 1 in each dance genre
At least 4 external industry professional workshops per year
Annual dance for film project Commercial events including Flash mobs
Progress feedback tutorials & Annual theatre trip
Awards & celebrations evening including Fundraising event
Our core programme is located at: DAZL HQ, Middleton Community Centre, Acre Rd, Leeds, LS10 4LF.
Ballet, Cheer and Acro is based at Tingley Youth Centre, WF3 1QQ
WEEKLY TIMETABLE
Contemporary Mondays, U12yrs: 4.30 – 6.45 pm, U19yrs: 7.30-9pm (Core Programme)
Ballet, Acro and Cheer: Wednesdays at Tingley Youth Centre, WF3 1QQ, 4.45 – 7.30 pm (Supplementary Programme)
Commercial: Thursdays, U12yrs: 4.30 – 6.30pm, U19yrs: 7.30-9pm (Core Programme)

This offers gifted dancers 7-16yrs weekly training and performance schedule, creating a passion for dance while promoting diverse pathways for further dance training.
