DAZL – VINE Inclusive Cheerdance at Northern Ballets #Expressions16

13782177_1804006269829327_2212702030733753249_nThe young disabled adults who DAZL work with weekly had the chance to perform at the Stanley and Audrey Burton Theatre part of Northern Ballets Expressions 2016. The learners who attend the Vine education service were joined by other inclusive dance companies from across the country.

Vine is an education service for young people aged 19 to 25 who have a variety of complex needs including physical, learning and health needs. It is provided by Leeds City Council in partnership with Leeds City College. DAZL have had a 5 year partnership with VINE using dance as not only physical activity but to meet the educational outcomes of their individual learning programs.

The dancers have been working with DAZL Dance Development Officer – Vicky Mawson and Assistant Chrisie Emmonds, they participant in dance once a week and the feedback from all the students/ support workers/ staff is that cheerdance program has improved the young dancers concentration and mobility. We are looking forward to the future and seeing how we can evolved this program
