DAZL Big Yorkshire Dance Day at the South Leeds Youth Hub was fantastic – Massive thank you’s to Councilors Judith Blake who opened the event and for show her constant support for the work we do at DAZL. Thank you to the Regional Dance Development Network for promoting the event throughout the regional and Yorkshire Dance – (Yorkshire Dance Event is Sunday 15th July on Millennium Square Leeds) The Dance Studio Leeds Girls (The DSL Youth Dance Company) – tore up the dance floor on the evening showcase and it was a pleasure to have them as our guests. The Cash 4 Kids teams did an amazing job entertaining the members of the public with their mascot “Courage” – The raffle and Kids Tombola went down a treat! All the volunteers were just amazing and were a much needed/ valued addition the day.
The young people from across the city were all amazing in total we had 38 groups perform throughout the day which in total was 419 dancers which is just fantastic. We had additional 373 audience throughout the day and a sold out show on the evening of 160 so participating throughout the day was 952 people from across the city which was fantastic and the weather was fine thankfully.
Massive thank you to all the DAZL staffing team you was all fantastic and without all your hard work this could not have been possible – The performances were outstanding and the artists leading on the workshops did an amazing job. This event was really about exposing people to new styles or dance and maybe watching something they might not normally go to see and we feel this happened.
We had a lovely piece in the Yorkshire Evening post and a web page on the radio Aires website which was fantastic http://www.radioaire.co.uk/
The feedback has been extremely positive from everyone – Thank you!
