DAZL Groups take part in Help The Heroes Charity Event DAZL Groups take part in Help The Heroes Charity Event at Local family pub the Falconer Rest you can visit them on FACEBOOK  For information on other events. Dance Action Zone Leeds (DAZL) took the DAZL Diamonds Youth and Junior Girls who did a fantastic job entertaining the community. DAZL Groups From South & East Leeds Come Home With The Gold

DAZL Group From South & East Leeds Come Home With The Gold On Sunday 1st May 2016 the DAZL Comp Teams which include the DAZL Diamonds, DAZL Mums and DAZL Boys (South Leeds) and the DAZL Goldstars and DAZL Inspire (East Leeds) took part in the Northern Classics #CheerChant Cheerdance & Hip-Hop Competition. The DAZL groups consisted over 120 dancer and 194 supporters which made it a sea of DAZL t-shirts across the Blackpool Winter Gardens Dance Hall. The DAZL groups came home with 5 x 1st Place, 4 x 2nd Places, 5 x 3rd Places and 3x 4th Places. DAZL also took home the top prize if the Sportsmanship award. This was a really special event as it was dedicated to a DAZL participant who sadly past away (Sofia Rose) whilst in the lead up to this event. The DAZL Mums created a piece in her memory and this piece was not only emotion but took home the top prize in the adults division. This event was the first competition of our East Leeds Groups bringing both South and East Leeds young people together. Were so proud to have been celebrated for 11years of winning major championships and to go home with the sportsmanship award was the icing on the cake.   Big thank you to Northern School Of Contempoary Dance Students Mason Jubb & Natasha Smith for all the fantastic work they have put in with the DAZL comp teams, we are so happy to have you on board and inspiring the young people     “Congratulations all DAZL Comp Teams we did it and to win the ‪#‎sportsmanship‬ ‪#‎SpiritOf2016Award‬ We couldn’t be more proud of everyone at ‪#‎DAZL‬ and all our lovely supporters. #BAFwk – Bring a friend to DAZL week 9th-14th May Today we launch a new initiative to reward all those young people who bring friends along to DAZL with a FREE class. This is Bring a Friend to DAZL Week, If you bring a friend between Monday 9th and Saturday 14th May 2016 you both get your dance class FREE. YOU CAN BRING MORE THAN ONE FRIEND TO MORE THEN ONE CLASS TOO -which means you could get a few FREE classes this week! why not take advantage of this.

DAZL Comp Teams Benefit Night April 2016   The DAZL Comp Teams hosted their competition benefit night (Dress Rehearsal) for all the community to come view there work prior to the competition in Blackpool on Sunday 1st May 2016.   Marie Mulvey (Parent) Loved watching gracie do her dances she loves to go to dance and thats all thanks to the amazing teachers Amy Dazl and Toni Allerton I cant thank you enough for all the hard work you have done gracie has gone from a very shy little girl to an extremely confident 3 year old in just a couple of months you guys are stars xx The 123 young dancers from Gipton, Richmond Hill, Seacroft, Ebor Gardens (East Leeds) Belle Isle, Rothwell, Middleton, Morley, Beeston, Hunslet (South Leeds) totaklly rocked we had a packed 200+ people supporting the young people and there achievements which is just fantastic. The Comp teams meet on various day all info can be found on our competitive dance page   Amazing result raising £635 last night so proud of all the DAZL Comp Teams not bad a 2 hour event – all staff, kids, parents and supporters we literally can’t thank you all enough 😀 ‪#‎WeLoveDAZL‬   New Member always welcome from 1st May 2016 – we do a Cheerdance and a Hip-Hop Competition each year plus many showcases and events.

DAZL Gets Inner South Community Committee Funding Support 2016-17 DAZL receives funding from Inner South Community Committee to support 3 New Sessions DAZL Xplode at The South Leeds Youth Hub – Saturdays 10-12noon. DAZL Xplode at Cottingley Community Centre -Wednesdays at Cottingley Community Centre and also DAZL Xplode Beeston which will be in partnership with local providers such a Hamara Centre.   The Groups will meet weekly but also have the opportunity to take part in a summer intensive project with Wayne Sables Dance and Film Company. The projects are aimed at young people aged 7-12 years across Inner South Leeds and will be performing in the many local galas this summer. DAZL Gets Outer South Community Committee Funding Support for Young People Arts & Health Program 2016-17. DAZL receives funding from Outer South Community Committee to support The existing Outer south dance provision run by DAZL. The supported community dance sessions are as follows.   Mondays DAZL REVOLUTION @ Tingley Youth Centre Mondays DAZL Allstars @ Newlands Church, Morley Wednesdays – DAZL Reloaded at Rothwell Scout Hut Wednesday – DAZL Xtreme at St Gabriela Community Centre, East Ardsley The Groups will meet weekly but also have the opportunity to take part in a summer digital dance intensive project with Wayne Sables Dance and Film Company. The projects are aimed at young people aged 7-17 years across Outer South Leeds and will be performing in the many local galas this summer. DAZL Youth Company at Phoenix Dance Youth platform 2016 As part of Phoenix Dance commitment to provide performance opportunities and raise aspirations of young people,they hosted the Yorkshire Youth Platform at the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre. Showcasing the very best in local, regional and national talent to present their work in a professional theatre environment to audiences of up to 230 guests. Yorkshire Youth Dance Platform platform celebrates youth dance across the Yorkshire region. Performers include Phoenix Youth Academy, Shahck Out Juniors (RJC Dance), Dance United Yorkshire Performance Company and DAZL Youth Dance Company. 412 Dance and Yorkshire Dance Youth to name a few. “We at DAZL want to say a massive thank you to Phoenix Dance for a fantastic event we all had a ball. It was so inspiring to perform with such talented groups from across the region “ The DAZL Youth Company performed are Dance and Health work  “NoFilter the Obsession with the Selfie” which has been touring around the Yorkshire Youth Platform circuit, choreographed by Vicky Mawson and Mason Jubb.

DAZL Youth Company at Yorkshire Dance’s #FRESH2016 This was the final stop for the DAZL Youth Company and the #NoFilter “Obsession with the Selfie Tour 2016” Choreography By Vicky Mawson & Mason Jubb Fresh is Yorkshire Dance annual showcase of high quality youth dance from across Yorkshire, and part of U.Dance, a national celebration of performance by young people. This year they recived 43 applications from every corner of Yorkshire, and our independent selection panel are delighted to announce the groups they’ve chosen to perform at CAST.     Groups selected to perform on the main stage Curve Dance Project Pulse Temple Moor Dance Company Seniors Yorkshire Dance Youth Phoenix Youth Academy Dance United Yorkshire Performance Company North Lindsey Dancers RJC Youth Dance Company DAZL Youth Company Stage 84 Momentum Dance Street Beat Elite Northern School of Contemporary Dance Centre for Advanced Training Groups selected for Fringe stage Hull Dance Youth Company Doncaster Youth Dance Company Rodillian Oakbank BTEC Dance Trio East Riding Youth Dance County Company Temple Moor Dance Company ReBuzz Me2 Inclusive Youth Dance Company Each year, companies from regional showcases like Fresh are selected to perform at the final U.Dance showcase, which takes place in a difference city every year. Two of these groups performing in Doncaster will be selected by an independent panel of judges to perform at U.Dance in Salford this July 2016.   Feedback from Yorkshire Dance was that the panel felt that the piece showed clear choreographic motifs or the ‘selfie’ theme throughout and had a great level of energy. The piece was performed with vigour and it really engaged the audience.  The panel noted that the dancers showed real commitment and gave 100% through their drive, passion and skill. We had a book and its was wonderful to see so much fantastic work happening across the region.

DAZL Youth Company @ North Links Platform 2016 in Grimbsy The DAZL Youth Company took there dance and health work to perform at the South Bank Showcase, DAZL along with around 20 other groups across Yorkshire performed at the wonderful Grimsby Auditorium. The Youth Company performed #NoFilter ” The obsession with the selfie” part of their Yorkshire Youth Platforms Tour -Choreogrphy by Vicky Mawson & Mason Jubb. Absolutly loved that the groups were freestyle/ comercial groups – the general feedback from the DAZL dancers was that they felt inspired by what they saw on stage.

DAZL Youth Dance Company perform & NSCD Community Platform 2016 On Saturday 19th March 2016 the DAZL Youth Company performed #NoFilter “The obsession with the selfie” choreographed by NSCD Student Mason Jubb & DAZL Dance Development Officer Vicky Mawson. The group perform alongside RJC Dance, EXP Dance, Dance United Yorkshire, Rebuzz, NSCD Inclusive Dance Groups and community performance groups Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD) hosted there annual Community Dance Platform, inviting community dance groups, youth and adult groups to perform dance work they have created  on NSCD’S Riley Theatre stage. This was a great opportunity for participants to perform work they have created in a professional dance theatre. On the performance day groups were given the opportunity to rehearse on stage with lighting and sound. In the evening they performed alongside other members of the community in a dance showcase.
